Lewis Cellars' Fall Releases!
October 18, 2006

Lewis Cellars' Fall Releases -

I have been fortunate to purchase Randy and Debbie Lewis's wines from the get go.  I remember their first visit to The Wine Consultant in the early 1990s when the wines were being produced under the old Oakville Ranch label and Randy's claim to fame was being a former Indy 500 race veteran.

Trust me when I say, Randy and Debbie have found new fame on a fast track, but it has nothing to do with going around in circles.

In recent memory, no other Napa Valley winery can claim such a consistent track record of overall excellence as Lewis Cellars.

Just take a look at these Wine Spectator scores!

Next week we will take delivery of Lewis Cellars' Fall releases.  Here is an opportunity to secure bottles from me before all hell breaks loose.  I have yet to have the opportunity to sample these latest unveilings.  But rest assured, this winery does not make anything close to a disappointing wine.  Unlike many upstart wineries that think it is okay to immediately position their place in the market with unwarranted high price tags, Lewis Cellars' continued success has earned the right to increase its pricing, but is still a relative value for its reliant high quality.  As usual, quantities are limited, so do not delay in your response!!!

Below are the winery's tasting notes and prices.

2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
$79.95 - 1600 cases - YOU PAY $77.50 ON 3 BOTTLES, OR $74.95 ON SIX PLUS BOTTLES.

"Showcasing the unique personalities of small hillside vineyards from Pritchard Hill, Rutherford, and Calistoga our 2004 Napa Valley Cabernet delivers compelling aromas of black currant, mocha and sweet oak spice. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is complex, rich and focused. Built around a core of concentrated fruit, it serves up sumptuous, round, mouth-feel with traces of tobacco and briar. Beautifully structured, the wine develops distinctive chocolate flavors that travel long on the finish with finely integrated tannins."

2005 Chardonnay, Sonoma, Russian River Valley
$44.95 - 2100 cases - YOU PAY $42.95 ON 3 BOTTLES, OR $39.75 ON SIX PLUS BOTTLES.

"Our 2005 Sonoma Chardonnay from Dutton and Ritchie vineyards is crisp and delicious, crafted from gnarled old Russian River vines in sandy loam soils. The wine has a distinctly toasty and tropical nose this year with aromas of custard and meringue. Framed in spicy oak and loaded with ripe citrus and apricot fruit flavors, the wine is balanced, rich, and refreshing, with trademark Meyer lemon zest on the finish."

Also - I will receive just a case or two of the following!!  So act immediately!  Limits may be imposed!

2004 Merlot - Napa Valley
$74.95 - 150 cases

"From a single, low-yielding block on Pritchard Hill, our 2004 Merlot is so sexy it rivals our best-ever bottling of 1997 Reserve Merlot. Aromas of wild, ripe-on-the-vine berries, cocoa and cedar-laced oak are powerfully seductive. The wine is serious yet supple and will stir you with fleshy ripe fruits and chewy, mouth-coating tannins that wrap around you like a silk undergarment."

2004 Syrah - Napa Valley
$69.95 - 150 cases

"Syrah has often been the most compelling wine in the Lewis line and our 2004 Napa Valley is as provocative as ever. Crafted from two tiny Syrah blocks near the 1,500' summit of Pritchard Hill, this 100% Syrah is inky dark yet radiant in the glass, with enticing aromas of blackberry, vanilla and oak spices. Rich and redolent with black fruit the wine is nuanced with lavender and espresso and anchored by deeply infused tannins."

2004 Alec's Blend - Napa Valley
$55.95 - 450 cases

"The baseball equivalent of a grand slam, Alec's 2004 bottling is an out-of-the-park delicious blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Packed with wild blackberry and seductive, cedar-laced oak and spices, the wine has a deeply fruited core enhanced with violets, vanilla and cocoa. Rich and thickly textured with great weight and balance, the wine is framed with chewy, chocolately tannins."

2005 Chardonnay - Napa Valley
$44.95 - 250 cases

"Our Napa Valley Chardonnay is created from meticulously managed vineyards in the Carneros and Oak Knoll districts. Copious ripe fruit and toasty, oak spice aromas leap from the glass. Cinnamon-laced pear, stone-fruit and pie-crust flavors turn creamy in texture on the palate with a broad, round finish highlighted by traces of mineral."
