Not so Youngish....

I am feeling old and crotchety today..
Even cut the 8 mile run this morning down to 6. And, to top
it off, I can't think of any wine to write about this week that you MUST
HAVE! I can just hear those who are actually reading this saying, "Oh
my...how refreshing!"
Have you ever noticed how many wine merchants are
always selling the same wine, saying the same thing, at the same time every
year! What a snooze. Who needs a calendar?
Maybe it was the tired old bottle of 1970 Pauillac
we opened on the spur last night; such promise run amok. Or, the oxidized
and slightly corky bottle of Verdicchio the night before that has
helped fuel my doldrum? I know these are mishaps that go
with the territory. Can't have a great bottle everynight....not even
a good bottle everynight! Sometimes a nice dry fino sherry is
best, or as I discovered in Argentina after a harrowing taxi ride in the
jungles of Iguazu.....a double shot of natural cane sugar Cachaca
(grappa)!! I would highly recommend the latter to
everyone that receives this e-mail, but I can't sell spirits with this high
of an alcohol content.
So, I will forge on.....taste more. Is it my
fault that nothing has measured up to recommend with my "highest" this last
week? Wow, now that's coming to grips
with it. I already feel somewhat refreshed and invigorated .....the
pressure is off for now.
Hope I find something for you next week....or I
might have to draw off the old retirement account.
