So we are off again; this time to the Spain and southern France. We have tasting/tour appointments in the Montsant and Priorat regions of Spain (in the mountains west of Tarragona along the Mediterranean coastline about 2 hours drive south of Barcelona.). Then we u-turn and drive up the Costa Brava coastline into France to visit wineries within the regions and sub-appellations of Collioure, Corbieres, and the Languedoc-Roussillon. The store will be closed after Saturday from July 1st. and not reopen until July 19th. All orders are available to pickup before tomorrow's close of business (10 am to 6 pm). As has become a tradition before we leave on a trip, I will open some library wines to pour at the tasting bar from the store's climatized back room (aka the "fu room") between Noon and 4 pm tomorrow.

One good thing about taking off is I know our neighbors will appreciate sleeping a little later on Friday mornings, because they won't be suddenly awakened at 5:30 by the shrill noise of crashing glass when our recyle bin is dumped. How many of you are self conscious about the contents of your recycle bin? Maybe we should collectively launch a campaign for plastic wine bottles?

Hot tip! For all of you Calfornia State Fair Wine Competiton fans - I will bet my last dollar the "Best-of-Show" Red to be announced on July 12th will be the 2005 Wilderotter Barbera from Amador County. I will go out on a limb now and congratulate Jay and Maggie Wilderotter.
