Crazy Good!
August 30, 2007

YES!  Call me crazy, but we will be OPEN this Saturday on Labor Day weekend from 10am to 6pm.  Tasting Bar from Noon until 4pm.

AMONG THE NEW WINES scheduled to arrive that MAY BE TASTED-

From one of the premiere vineyards on the west coast -

2004 Seven Hills Ciel du Cheval Red Table Red Mountain AVA, - Washington - $29.95 - NOW $26.50 a bottle!

"The 2004 Ciel du Cheval Vineyard (located in the Red Mountains AVA) is a blend of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Purple-colored, it offers an array of aromas including pain grille, pencil lead, truffle, licorice, and blackberry. Its medium-bodied personality features layers of sweet, ripe dark fruits, soft tannins, excellent delineation, and outstanding length. Give this serious effort 3-4 years in the cellar and drink it through 2030..." - 93 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Issue 172, (August 2007)

"A firm earthy style with a gamey edge to the dense blackberry and currant fruit. Has depth and a distinctive range of flavors, ending on a floral note. Needs cellaring. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best after 2008. $30 - 768 cases made."  - 91 points,  Wine Spectator, May 2007

Just reloaded on the 05 Stolpman (RP 93), 03 Spencer-Roloson Syrahs (final call on last Saturday's favorite!), and 04 Turkey Flat Shiraz (RP 94)  > www.thewineconsultant.com/newsletter/318 , and now introducing the.....

2005 Koehler Syrah - Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Barbara - $25.95 - NOW $22.50 a bottle!

"A Hermitage look-alike from Santa Ynez, Koehler's full-bodied 2005 Syrah possesses notes of road tar, spring flowers, blueberries, crushed rocks, and creme de cassis. With high tannin, layers of flavor, and superb purity as well as depth, it represents a beautiful combination of Santa Ynez's ripe, pure fruit and the structure and muscle of a great Hermitage from France's Rhone Valley. I'll be anxious to see how this cuvee evolves over the next decade or more." - 93 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Issue 172 (August 2007)
