Audelssa Summit, New Lewis Releases -
October 24, 2007

AUDELSSA FAN CLUB ALERT!

Recently I had an opportunity to curl up with a bottle of the just released 2005 Audelssa Summit

Here are my notes:

The 2005 Audelssa Summit is composed of 60% Cab Sauv, 22% Merlot, 10% Franc, 6% Malbec 2% Petite Verdot.  The wine spent 22 months in 40% new French oak from various coopers.  The 2005 Summit's  fruit is best described as high-toned ripe black cherries and black currant-cassis.  The intense fruit aromas co-mingle with nuances of chocolate-mocha, black licorice, and an underlying vein of minerality that once again expresses the distinctive terroir of the severely inclined Mountain Terrace Vineyards.   The palate expression is intense and concentrated, and will need time to unwind and be more fully expressive.  Three hours into it, little had changed.  But, make no mistake, the wine is deftly balanced  with evidence of the lusty bounty lurking in its depth.   It is easy to understand how this fruit was coveted by Dick Arrowood for his earlier Reserve Speciale Cabernet Sauvignon.  Production has been increased from 600 cases to 1,000.

PLEASE NOTE:  The Summit will be available to taste at the tasting bar this Saturday from Noon until 4pm.

Same price as last vintage at $49.95 a bottle, or $47.50 - 3 bottles,  $43.95 - 6 plus bottles.

Showcasing the unique personalities of small hillside vineyards from Pritchard Hill, Rutherford, and Calistoga our 2005 Napa Valley Cabernet delivers complex aromas of black currant, sweet oak spice, espresso and tobacco. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine makes a sweeping broad entry with briary, black fruit at the core and compelling chocolate flavors that yield to a long chewy finish.  1,500 cases produced.

2005 Merlot, Napa Valley - $74.95 NET or $69.95 on six or more bottles of this wine.

From low-yielding Pritchard Hill and Calistoga blocks, our 2005 Merlot is an 11 on a seduction scale of 10. Intense blueberry, cocoa and cedar-infused oak aromas alone are enough to quicken your pulse. In your mouth, the wine is saturated with redolent, ripe-on-the-vine fruit with fine, fleshy texture. Satisfyingly rich and delicious with stiff yet silky tannins, prepare yourself for some serious pleasure.  500 cases produced.

2006 Chardonnay, Napa Valley - $47.95 NET or $44.59 on six or more bottles of this wine.

Our Napa Valley Chardonnay is created from meticulously managed vineyards in the Carneros and Oak Knoll districts. The nose is packed with apple blossom, pear and vanilla-tinged oak. Rich, ripe and thickly textured, pear and stone-fruit flavors turn creamy on the palate with a broad, round finish and a hint of cinnamon.  500 cases produced.

2006 Chardonnay, Sonoma, Russian River Valley - $47.95 NET - or $42.25 on 6 or more bottles of this wine.

Our 2006 Sonoma Chardonnay from Dutton and Ritchie vineyards is crafted from gnarly old Russian River Valley vines in deep, sandy loam soils. Ripe citrus and apricot fruit aromas are overlain with sexy sandalwood spice. Framed in smoky, toasty oak and loaded with ripe fruitful flavors, the wine is balanced, rich, and persistent, with trademark Meyer lemon zest on the finish.  1,900 cases produced.
