The "Pinot Noir Envy" tasting was so popular a few weeks ago, we have decided to do it again, except on a broader scale. Yes, at least eight wines will be selected, and although this is a casual format, you will have the option to taste blind if you prefer.

Remember, this is fun and educational! Your $10 tasting fee will be waived with any $20 in store purchase.

I have scored some extra cases of Brian Loring's 06 Cargasacchi and Clos Pepe from Santa Rita Hills in Santa Barbara (rated 97 and 96 points respectively by the Pinot Report.). Kathy Joseph, who pioneer this new AVA has just late released her stunning 2004 Fiddlehead Fiddlestix Vineyard "728" that is redolent with lush, spicy, black cherry fruit. Moving north there are rare bottles of the cult followed 06 Roar Garys', and 06 A.P.Vin Rosella's (97 PR) from the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey. Up in Sonoma, not to take anything away from the ever popular favorite 06 Patz & Hall, but we have latched on to more of the "Best Value" 06 Patassy. And then there is the new idol Luc Morlet....Family Vineyard, formerly winemaker at Peter Michael and Staglin, who has captured Robert Parker's attention; and is being projected by many as the next Kosta Brown! I would not want to leave out the miniscule production of 06 Kindred's Amber Ridge....a source considered to be one of Sonoma's finest vineyards. Or other names like Duckhorn's Goldeneye or Roessler's Hein Family from up in the Anderson Valley of Mendocino.

I hope to added a few "extras" to the mix we can all try for the first time, like the 05 Row Eleven ($34.95) from Santa Maria, and 06 Mi Sueno Ulises Vineyard ($47.95) from the Russian River Valley....Yes, the Ulises Valdez Vineyard!.....A primary source for Paul Hobbs' Pinot Noir.
