“Contrario” is a break through wine, representing a new way of interpreting the Sagrantino grape. Cultivated and vinified in such a way as to tame Sagrantino’s typically rustic tannins, and to produce a young and enjoyable, fresher and very drinkable wine. Fermented and aged in stainless steel vats for 18 months; assembling and clarifying in cement vats for 3 months; then bottled and held for at least another 6 months for refinement before release.
Yes, surprisingly ready for immediate consumption, but will hold and age nicely for a few years – dense ruby red color. A rich and intense nose, featuring perfumed floral notes, wild berries and subtle herbs, and citrus rind. Elegant and fresh on the palate. Very persistent and fruity finish.
