Ester Nin, assistant winemaker for Daphne Glorian of legendary Clos i Terrasses (Clos Erasmus) has established herself as one of Priorat’s most revered “new generation” winemakers with her highly coveted, but rarely found Nit de Nin.
“The Nit de Nin family has grown with the addition of a new vineyard. The wine produced since 2003 comes from Mas d’en Caçador—this was always named on the label, but it is now also specified in the wine name to distinguish between the new vineyard. The 2015 Nit de Nin Mas d’en Caçador comes from the vineyard mentioned in the name, a famous place in Porrera planted with old vines of Garnacha Negra, Garnacha Peluda and Cariñena. It fermented in an oak vat with indigenous yeasts and matured in a similar vat for 18 months. It’s heady and ripe, exuberant and very open, a hedonistic, round and lush wine. The palate reveals very fine tannins and great harmony. 4,774 bottles and some larger formats were filled in April 2017. – 97 points, Wine Advocate (April 2018)
The Planetes range comes from a vineyard that they planted and therefore is 100% their responsibility; the other wines are produced with grapes from old vines. They work and live in the village of Porrera. They make characterful wines, among the best in Priorat. They also produce whites in the Penedès zone but without appellation of origin, as they work with Parellada Montonega and other grapes not authorized by the appellation of origin.” – Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate
