2015 Ser Chardonnay, Coastview Vineyard, Monterey

2015 Ser Chardonnay, Coastview Vineyard, Monterey

Nicole Walsh first began working closely with Randall Grahm at Bonny Doon, beginning in 2001.  She is now his “project manager” for his latest property venture Popelouchum, a 400 acre estate in the limestone embedded foothills of the Gabilan Mountains in eastern Monterey county just outside of San Juan Bautista.  In her spare time, and when she is not surfing, she is devoted to her label Ser (“to be” in Spanish).

The Coastview Vineyard is situated at 2300 ft. elevation in Gabilan Mountain Range on eastern side of Salinas Valley. Soils are decomposed granite with veins of limestone. Farmed organically. Whole cluster pressed, indigenous yeast fermentation and neutral oak fermented and aged 8 months. Completed malolactic fermentation. Bottled unfiltered. A low alcohol of  13% which lets the fruit really shine. 150 cases produced. .This wine is very Burgundian in process and result, and not your “grandma’s California chardonnay!”
