Located in the Sauternes appellation, but because the wine does not have the requisite residual sugar/sweetness level required by the appellation, this DRY white Bordeaux wine is sold as a generic white Bordeaux wine or Grand Vin Blanc Sec. But this is no ordinary white Bordeaux.
Founded and operated by Olivier Bernard, the owner of the prestigious estates of Domaine de Chevalier in Pessac Leognan and Chateau Guiraud in Sauternes, all 45 hectares of the densely planted 30+ year old vines are farmed organically. The soils are composed of gravel with clay, sand and limestone.
The wine making team at Domaine de Chevalier is responsible for producing this wine. Designed to be ready for immediate pleasure! The blend of 70% Semillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc is aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and concrete vats for an average of 6 months before bottling.
“This has a good juicy edge, with a mix of pear, green almond and lime flavors, lined with a verbena note. A flash of quinine through the finish gives this some cut.” Wine Spectator – Score range: 90-93 — JM
