The Terčič winery is located in San Floriano del Collio, on the border with Slovenia, on the eastern most tip of northern Italy. The town is one of the most suitable micro-zones for Collio viticulture, thanks to the altitude, the double effect of the “bora” coming from the Vipacco valley, and the sea winds that come from the south and to the typical soils composed of clay, marl and sandstone. The current estate is planted to 9.5 hectares of vineyards.
The high density vineyards were planted almost 30 years ago. The first commercial release was 1994. Only about 3,500 bottles of this Friulano are produced per vintage. The hand picked grapes undergo a cold skin maceration, and then are fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tank at between 16-20 degrees celsius. After fermentation the wine rests on the lees for 7 months, and is not allowed to go through malo-lactic fermentation. After bottling the wine rests 10 months before release.
