Located twelve miles south of Grass Valley, California and Nestled in the Sierra Foothills, Naggiar Vineyards encompasses some 135 acres of hilly and rocky terrain. At 1,300 feet elevation, the property sits on several large knolls with gentle, hillside slopes and experiences the warm days and cool nights essential for growing top quality wine grapes. With sixty acres of estate vineyards planted to seventeen Mediterranean varietals, the focus is on growing varietals that time has proven best suited to this site.
A steep rocky south facing hillside together with long warm summer days and cool afternoon breezes have crafted the premium grapes for this luscious dark—almost mulberry-black wine. This rich, well-structured wine has heady aromas of black currants, blackberry, cassis and chocolate followed by a long lingering finish with faint hints of mocha, cracker pepper and tobacco. 14.5% alcohol. 300 cases.
“This age worthy wine is huge, dense and concentrated, wrapping a thick layer of fine-grained tannins around plump blueberry and blackberry flavors while spicy oak shadings add some complexity and seem to offset the tannic effect. It is showy and delicious now but will drink best after 2023.” – 93 points, Wine Enthusiast (May 1, 2019)
