Even at this steep price tag, I could not resist! Even after waiting a few days to think about it, I simply could not help myself. An extremely seductive wine. I have been hell bent on tasting and finding a serious, “class act” California “Burgundian” styled Chardonnay. Eureka! This is a special Jayson Pahlmeyer project……and this wine even belittles his own eponymous and famous Chardonnay. I promise, it’s as least as good as the 2016 (below).
“It’s a riveting Chardonnay that offers notes of carmelized citrus, honeysuckle, toasted brioche, and scorched earth. Rich, medium to full-bodied, with bright acidity, this beautiful, layered, elegant wine builds with time in the glass. Elegance and purity are the buzzwords, but it has depth and length.” 97 points, Jeb Dunnuck
2016 Wayfarer Chardonnay – Fort Ross-Seaview – 97+, Wine Advocate – “The 2016 Chardonnay Wayfarer Vineyard opens with beguiling scents of fresh ginger, orange blossoms, baking bread, toasted almonds and beeswax with a core of pineapple, grapefruit, lemon meringue pie and green mango. Medium to full-bodied, the palate explodes with tropical and citrus fruit goodness, supported by a racy line of acid and finishing on a persistent gingery note.”
