The 2017 Trousseau Gris is the best of all worlds: precise in its vibrancy and complex enough to satisfy the toughest of critics. Like many vintages, lemon zest and ginger are the notable flavors. A clean and concise minerality anchors the mid palate. This wine is both present and eager to please. If drinkability with a diversity of food pairings is your goal, the Trousseau Gris over delivers.
A native of the Jura region, Trousseau Gris is a true “Grey” grape and can make either white wines or slightly colored wines. For this wine the grapes are quickly pressed the moment they arrive at the winery, opting for a fresh white wine style. Pressed lightly to avoid any bitterness, the juice is transferred to stainless steel barrels and neutral french oak barrels. The wines ferment at low temperatures and can take as long as 6 weeks to finish. The wine is continues to age on its lees, and the blend is assembled and bottled in February. The wine does not go through malo-lactic fermentation which helps to accentuate it freshness and vibrancy.
