The iconic, and true reference point Pinot Noir producer of the Central Otago region on New Zealand’s south island, we have managed to secure 30 bottles of this rare wine and incredible value! If you are not already a believer that world class “Burgundian” styled wine can be produced in New Zealand, this wine should absolutely convince you. Highly coveted! An age worthy collectible! New Zealand restaurants are judged on the basis if Felton Road is represented on their wine lists. 2018 was a very dry and warm year, but the temps drew down the final 6 weeks of ripening. Great vintage!
“Characteristic floral, cherry and spice aromas abound from the glass on first approach. The fruit from our four vineyards (Elms, MacMuir, Calvert and Cornish Point) delivers appealing diversity of aroma and flavour, along with multiple layers and textures. The deeply textural mouthfeel is silken and already charmingly approachable: partly due to the warm 2018 season, but also highly typical of the Felton Road house style.”
Expect the same ratings as the 2017 Felton Road Pinot Noir Bannockburn – “Elegant, fresh and vibrant, this red starts off wonderfully perfumed, with lavender, white pepper and green tea notes that accentuate the purity of the cherry and raspberry flavors. Polished tannins still provide some grip on the finish, where white truffle and forest floor details linger. Drink now through 2032. 7,120 cases made.” – 96 points, Wine Spectator (October 15, 2018) #12/Top 100 – 2018
