Description

Although the Esmonin parcels in Mazy-Chambertin and Ruchottes-Chambertin parcels are not far apart, the wines which these parcels produce are remarkably distinct. Esmonin’s site in Mazy is close to Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and produces a bigger, more masculine wine, while their outstanding Ruchottes is very refined, with its sleek lines and fine tannins.  The Mazy and Ruchottes are truly special and I firmly believe these are the two best examples of these wines Esmonin has ever produced.  Extremely limited in the US market.

The Ruchottes –  “A deep, velvety red, this bursts with cherry, black currant, violet and graphite aromas and flavors, shrouded in smoky oak. It’s intense and linear in profile, with excellent balance and a long, detailed finish. Best from 2024 through 2045. 100 cases imported.”  94 points, Wine Spectator — BS (May 2021)
