Vinos de Arganza became a family business when it was purchased by long-time wine industry professional, Víctor Robla and his wife Ángeles Varela. Varela’s roots can be traced back to her own family’s wine growing history in Bierzo over 500 years ago. Today, Vinos de Arganza relies on their terroir, traditional know-how; and when combined with current technological wine making are committed to quality and value. VALUE for sure!!
Trust me when I say, there is a lot of miserable Mencia from this region plaguing the American market and giving the variety and place a bad name. The Seculo is the perfect introductory wine if you have had a poor experience or wish to explore this wonderful grape’s potential. It’s aromas, flavors and structure can easily be mistaken for Cabernet Franc.
Perfectly aged and ready to drink this 100% Mencia received 91 points from the Wine Enthusiast.
The estate grown fruit is manually harvested. Fermentation occurs in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine ages for 3 months in French and American oak barrels before bottling.
Intense ruby color, with redolent, ripe blackberry and blueberry aromas. Beautifully balanced with smoky cedar and spice notes. Full dark red fruit notes, with just a hint of juniper, are mouth filling, juicy, and surprisingly smooth and round on the palate. Really a joy to drink with everything from grilled burgers and steaks to Merguez lamb sausage.
