Felipe Garcia began PS Garcia in 2006. After working for larger wineries, he made his first independent wine as a declaration of “true” wine. Inspired by the discovery of dry farmed, VERY old-vine Carignan vineyard parcels in Maule, he has since started two of Chile’s most influential small producer movements: MOVI (Movement of independent vintners) and VIGNO (Vignadores de Carignan).
Some varietals have “notorious” reputations (“mala fama”), and two of them in Chile are Carignan and Carmenere. PS Garcia’s Mala Fama 2016 is a rare blend of absolutely delicious and compelling 85% Carignan, hand harvested from those same organically farmed vineyards in Maule, and 15% Carmenere from an outstanding block in Itata (southern Chile). Fermented with indigenous yeast and aged in neutral oak barrels for 24 months. The alchemy is powerful and full thrust, but at the same time easy and extremely pleasant to literally GULP!
Silky integrated tannins, low acidity and a deep dark ruby color. Brimming with notes of juicy raspberry and ripe purple plum with an earthy but fresh and inviting finish. Pairs well with bbq pork and beef brisket or ribs, savory grilled sausage, and even last night’s meatloaf sandwiches on Mediterranean olive bread. ENJOY the bounty, and another and fabulous value!
We purchased all 18 cases available, but this wine is selling very quickly! Do not delay. Perfect for holiday entertaining and gift giving.
