British Jancis Robinson MW, “the most respected wine critic and journalist in the world” – Decanter, has a wonderful, very literary, subscription only ” Purple Pages” we have followed for years, and highly recommend.
Purple Pages held a contest for all those in the hospitality industry who had been laid off because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Applicants were asked to submit their favorite food and wine match. The top ten results of the “Hospo Pairings” were announced today, including five from the United States. All I can say, is VERY impressive!!
We thought you would be most interested in all the pairings, but especially since one of our favorite winemakers, Kristie Tacey’s Tessier Femme Fatale Grenache Rosé from El Dorado county was cited by winner Sonia Vidal of High Treason wine bar in San Francisco for her pairing with the southern Indian “street” snack Sundal.
Seriously, click on the links above to get the full read…it is just too much fun! All natural. Indigenous yeast. Unfiltered. Slight zinging effervescence. 92% Grenache & 8% Pinot Noir (Santa Cruz Mt.).
“A gossamer pink reminiscent of ballerina tulle this stainless steel fermented, refreshing rosé will transport you to a warm summer day with its silken notes of strawberry, orange blossom, white lily, and wet stone. Bright acidity, cotton candy, and pluot notes will ignite your taste buds and the silkiness will make your tongue dance. Trampling of whole cluster Grenache for color, then pressed to tank. Saignee of Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir, fermented separately, and married after post fermentation. 12.8% alcohol. 250 cases.” – Tessier
BTW – some of you may recall Kristie is the former laboratory microbiologist who changed careers to dedicate herself to wine making. Kristie likes to pair wine with food too, but ironically her real love is recommending music to drink with her wines. Click this link to listen to her selection for the 2019 Femme Fatale. ENJOY!
