Description

Lingua Franca was co-founded by guru sommelier Larry Stone and renown Burgundy specialist Dominique Lafon in 2015, inspired by the exceptional vineyard site in the Eola-Amity Hills that Larry bought in 2012. They soon hired Thomas Savre, a brilliant young winemaker with work experience at some of the best domaines in Burgundy and an inquisitive mind. All are committed to farming and winemaking practices that respect the environment, believing that complex and undisturbed ecosystems help to create the most complex and seductive wines.

Winemaker Notes: The 2021 “Avni” Pinot Noir is subtle and mouth filling, immediately pleasing and rich. The large proportion of complexly flavored fruit from shallow Gelderman soils combines seamlessly with the richer fruit flavors of Pommard and 115 clone Pinot Noir on Jory and Nekia soils. The wine has many layers that unfold with both red and black cherry fruit, tea, rose petal, savory and mineral nuances, finishing with a round, plummy texture. 2021 “Avni” will count among the best we have ever made.

“Elegant yet dynamic, this multilayered red reveals detailed cherry and red plum flavors that are laced with savory forest floor and mineral flavors, which build intensity toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2031.” – 94 points, Wine Spectator
