Description

I have written often about Bedrock’s founder and winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson, son of Joel Peterson, founder and winemaker of the iconic Zin producer Ravenswood.  I think it is fair to say Morgan has earned his own equally high profile over the last 19 years when Bedrock was conceived in a Sonoma chicken coop.

You will need to act very quickly if you wish to secure Morgan’s latest gem!  From its Sonoma home ranch planted in 1888, the Bedrock Heritage ’24 is a Zinfandel dominant field blend including 27 varieties.   The previous vintage Bedrock Heritage received Wine Spectator’s highest rating ever for a “Zinfandel” at 97 points.

The Bedrock Vineyard itself has transitioned from conventional farming to become the only ancient-vine site in California that is Regenerative Organic Certified.  The 2024 vintage is one of the strongest wines of the year. Yields were low in 2024, so there’s less to go around, but the core of the wine remains rooted, as always, in Blocks 39 and 42 located on the “crown” of the vineyard along with ancient Carignan and Mourvèdre. The final blend is approximately 62% Zinfandel, 19% Carignan, 10% Mourvèdre, and 8% from the other 20+ varieties. Deeply scented of dark red fruits, anise and citrus this is both powerful and focused on the palate and will age gracefully for two decades or more.
