Description
After opening two bottles of the 2024 Broadbent Cabernet at the tasting bar last Saturday, I can attest to the very good Wine Enthusiast 93-point review below in last week’s offering. Purchased untasted, I was a little skeptical about how I would find a $15 a bottle “North Coast” Cabernet Sauvignon. But rest assured this is a surprisingly solid effort. In fact, I could not find fault with the wine except for a perceptible, slightly gritty tannin on the finish that does not detract from the wine’s overall enjoyment and will just melt away with a little fatty meat.
Apparently, everyone who attended the tasting bar to sample the wine felt the exact same way as we sold through the five cases of inventory on hand and took orders for another five cases. Get on board and back up the truck……deals like this are rarely found anymore! It’s almost “FREE WINE!”
Bartholomew Broadbent founded Broadbent Selections in 1996. Before Robert Parker became renown, his iconic British father Michael Broadbent was one of the most famous critics, wine writers, and premium wine auctioneers in the history of the wine industry. Just google search his name, a lot of amazing history!
In 1997, Decanter named Bartholomew one of the “Fifty most influential in the wine world…faces to watch in the new millennium,” while in 2008, Wine & Spirits named him one of ten in the world to be “driving the most revolutionary changes in wine.” Broadbent Selections was twice nominated for the Best Importer award by Wine Enthusiast, most recently at the 2020 Wine Star Awards. Broadbent Selections are meticulously curated and offer extremely high quality for value. For this 2024 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon the grapes were sourced from a long-time family friend’s vineyard; 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petite Sirah, 5% Petit Verdot, 4% Merlot, 1% Malbec aged in French oak for a few months of refinement. 14.5% alcohol. (See Wine Enthusiast rating below).
Perfect for entertaining and guilt-free drinking!
93 points “Best Buy” Wine Enthusiast! “Firm structure and lifted aromas of dark plum, boysenberry, dried cherry, and peppercorn are noted throughout the nose on this wine. The palate is saturated with blackberry preserve, red currant, ginger, and grippy tannins on the finish.”
