Description
“Pure and stony on the flinty, quartzite nose, the 2016 Emrich-Schönleber Nahe Riesling Trocken “Halgans” (which is mainly sourced from the nine-year-old Ley) is a round, lush and perfectly balanced Halenberg with celery and minty flavors and perfect fruit ripeness. The finish is pure and crystalline, enormously salty and with great finesse. An impressive wine indeed.” 93 points, Wine Advocate, Stephan Reinhardt (February 2018)
“….be assured that 2016 is a great vintage chez Schönleber. The GGs are intense, rich and powerful, complex as always but also provided with elegance, finesse and persistency. The “second wines” of the grand crus—Halgans and Frühtau—have rarely been better than in 2016 and can compete with numerous German Grosses Gewächs bottlings. These are gorgeous terroir wines—even though they are less powerful and concentrated—since the grapes were sourced from younger vines and lesser plots. But, Jesus, they are still fabulous!” Stephan Reinhardt
