Description

Contrada Guardiola is an ancient domain in the heart of the Passopisciaro estate situated between 800 m and 1,000 m.a.s.l., on the edge of the lava flow from the 1947 eruption, It produces a deep and complex wine with a rich, juicy and fleshy red fruit.  Produced from a very careful selection of 100+ year old vines.  Less than one ton per acre.  100% Nerello Mascalese.  Stainless steel fermentation for 15 days.  18 months aging in large, neutral oak barrels.  Photographed on first visit June 2017.
